Lesley Birtwistle

Hello everyone! I am Lesley Birtwistle and I am the current Chair of the Governing Body. I am also a retired priest within the Woodfield Team of Ministry, which includes Holy Rood, Packington.  “Retired” is something of a misnomer since I have what is called “Permission to Officiate”, and maintain strong links with the church, still carrying out a number of duties within the Team. However, my main focus now is on my governor role and the joys and challenges which this brings.

I have lived in the village for 50 years and have a strong attachment to the school - it is where my four children all gained a great foundation for their learning.  As I have become familiar with the way that the school is run and the education, in the broadest sense, which it provides, I have been most impressed by the excellent work which is carried out there and by the caring ethos and desire to ensure that every child flourishes. I find it a privilege to be a part of such a school community and am most fortunate also to be supported by a very keen and very competent team of governors.

I have been a Foundation Governor for 10 years now and have special responsibility for RE and Collective Worship, as well as serving on the Finance & Resources and the Monitoring & Curriculum Committees.   In my free time, I volunteer at Measham Community Library and I enjoy reading, crosswords, conversation, table tennis, and having fun with one or other of my numerous grandchildren!
